Colin Butters graduated from Cambridge University in Engineering. He worked as an engineer and engineering manager in the UK Electronics industry, before taking up a career as a professional pilot.

He qualified as a Captain on the Boeing 737, 757 and Airbus A320 aircraft, and is also a qualified instructor on light aircraft. He has 12,000 hours flying experience, and is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

He is a qualified CRM Instructor, and has many years experience designing and delivering CRM training to pilots and cabin crew in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He is an Associate Member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology. He is also a qualified Aviation Safety Auditor.

Outside the aviation industry, he has many years experience in the assessment of interpersonal skills of a workforce – from shop floor to boardroom level – and in delivering training courses in such skills as Communication, Delegation, Assertiveness, Decision-making, Mentoring and Negotiating.
